Greek availability (KJV ↔ SBLGNT)
ZVBible navigates the New Testament by KJV verse numbers. Greek text comes from MorphGNT SBLGNT, loaded one book at a time from data/nt-greek/.
Important: SBLGNT is a critical / eclectic Greek edition — not the Textus Receptus behind the KJV NT, not the Byzantine Majority Text, and not the Latin Vulgate. For traditions, variants, and why Latin is excluded as an “original,” see Greek text traditions. Sacred-text policy: Scripture fidelity.
What you see
| Case | UI |
|---|---|
| SBLGNT has the verse | Greek words with Strong’s, transliteration, and glosses |
| No Greek for that KJV ref | “Greek unavailable” / KJV-only notice |
| Book still loading | Branded loading state on /greek |
Implementation: lib/original-language-availability.ts, lib/nt-greek-loader.ts, scripts/fetch-greek-nt.js.
What the app does not show
MorphGNT upstream lines include part-of-speech and parsing codes. ZVBible’s shipped word objects keep greek, Strong’s, translit, gloss (and optional red-letter flags). Full morphology charts are not in the UI — use Blue Letter Bible external links for deeper paradigms.
Red-letter (Words of Jesus)
Optional NT red-letter highlighting is controlled in Settings (experimental). Data is patched from BSB USFM \wj markers (npm run data:fetch:red-letter).
